A series of random content suggestions.

My overall suggestion is to expand horizontal progression instead of vertical progression. Most of these ideas don't invalidate existing progression. They simply give players more to engage with, collectible items, and niche builds. That tends to increase replayability without dramatically changing balance, in my opinion of course. Haha.

The goal is to provide some ideas that introduce content, some also rare enough that maybe we won't even see many of in one wipe, but to keep that spark of RNG alive when you come across something unique and new and you're like "oooh what's that".    That's what really got me engaged.  Finding something cool and useful.

System 1 - Divine Equipment

A collection of legendary equipment that requires restoration rather than simply finding the item.

Restoration Materials

Instead of every item needing different resources, create a collectible system.

Divine Thread (Rare NPC Drop)

  • Used to restore Divine cloth equipment.

Dark Ore (Rare Mining Drop)

  • Used to restore cursed equipment.

Blessed Alloy (Rare Boss Drop)

  • Used to restore equipment.

Players first obtain the broken item, then gradually collect restoration materials.

This creates long-term progression.

Boots of Divinity

Rarity: Rare

A forgotten relic that grows stronger alongside its owner.

Progression

Broken Boots

Restore using 5 Divine Thread

Walk Distance Levels

  • Tier I — 1,000m
    • +5% movement speed
  • Tier II — 5,000m
    • +15% movement speed
  • Tier III — 10,000m
    • +25% movement speed
    • +10% jump height

This rewards simply playing the game.

Vestments of Divinity

Instead of separate hoodie and pants, make an equipment set.

Divine Hood

Passive regeneration while out of combat.

Divine Leggings

Slow regeneration while moving.

Full Set Bonus

Increases the power of healing items like syringes.  A good medium tier item that can be good before vengeance armor.

Nothing overpowered.

Cursed Relics

Risk vs reward equipment.

Shield of Damnation

Legendary Instance Reward

Requires

Broken Shield
+
5 Dark Ore

Effect

+20% Player Damage (stacks with potion)

+60% Damage Taken

Creates glass cannon builds.

Aegis of Eternity

Boss Drop

Requires restoration.

Effect

Instead of dying, the shield shatters.

Leaves player at

1 HP

Cooldown

30 minutes

Tradeoff

Cannot equip a large backpack.

System 2 - Master Artisan Equipment

Equipment that levels s.

Gloves of Plenty

Roaming Boss Drop

Gain experience by harvesting.

Tier I

+5% Gather Yield

Tier II

+15%

Tier III

+20%

Ancient Fishing Rod

Found only inside Deep Sea crates.

Possible bonuses

  • Chance to catch two or three fish
  • Faster reel speed

Rather than guaranteed double fish every catch.

Nature's Crucible

Legendary Composter

Produces

2x Compost

Small chance to create

Rich Compost

Used in future farming content.

Forge of the Damned

Legendary Furnace

Instead of simply producing more...

Give it interesting mechanics.

Example

  • 2x Smelting Speed
  • 1.5% more output.
  • No fuel required, runs on souls.

Very rare drop should be like 40-50k item

System 3 - Comfort Items

Adds personality.

Grandma's Rocking Chair

Ultra Rare NPC Drop

Must be placed within TC.

Effects while sitting

  • Prevents hunger
  • Slowly restores HP
  • Slight XP bonus while AFK (like 1 or 2)

Flavor text

"She always said to sit down before making important decisions."

System 4 - Combat Relics

Interesting alternatives.

Godly Horseshoe

Rare NPC Drop

Applied permanently to one horse.

Possible bonuses

  • Massive stamina increase
  • Higher speed
  • Reduced fall damage
  • 75% lower chance of dying

Makes horses valuable.

Oblivion EX

Elite Helicopter Exclusive

Ultra Rare

Instead of just stronger...

Give unique behavior.

Ideas

  • Explosive rounds
  • Piercing shots
  • Charged shots
  • Cluster ammunition

System 5 - Experimental Weapon Technology

Probably the most expandable system.

Instead of upgrading guns directly...

Introduce

Extraterrestrial Technology

Found from

  • Alien crashes
  • Elite bosses
  • Deep Sea
  • Future events

Used at

Alien Weapon Workbench

Each weapon receives one permanent specialization.

Examples

Dragon's Breath

Default

20 shots

Choose

Expanded Magazine

40 shots

OR

Burst Ignition

15 shots

Fires five-round bursts.

Reaper Launcher

Choose

Heavy Magazine

10 Rockets

OR

Twin Launch

4 Rockets

Fires two simultaneously.

AK

Choose

Precision Barrel

Reduced recoil

OR

Overclocked Bolt

Higher fire rate

LMG

Choose

Black energy
-40% damage - but unlimited ammo

OR

High Capacity Feed

+50% Magazine

Instead of simply making weapons stronger, players choose specializations.

That creates build diversity.

 Potion Expansion

Super Scrap Serum

Requires

Pure Scrap Tea

Duration

2 minutes

or

30 minutes

Possible effects

  • +250% Scrap
  • +75% Barrel Yield
  • +100% Component Chance

This encourages dedicated scrap runs.

Future additions could include:

System 7 - Long-Term Collection

Players love collecting.

Introduce an Artifact Collection Journal.

Every legendary item discovered permanently unlocks lore and statistics.

Example

Artifacts Collected

17 / 48

Each completed collection grants tiny permanent account bonuses like

  • +1 inventory slot
  • +1% horse speed/Running Speed
  • Cosmetic title

Nothing game-breaking, but enough to motivate exploration, give some weird perk that is present for the wipe, maybe unique color or title that appears.

Just some random ideas throwing out there. I love the idea of finding random things. Don't have to be super amazing benefits, but just coming across little things that are unique do different stuff is fun and enjoyable to me.

hate to say it but there's no way we turning relic in to brits server

Hey there @e1337

Thank you for the suggestions. We have some of these items in the game or linked to some sort of level perk. We will have an additional profession coming soon (something similar to what you suggested) but there are some limitations with it. Trying to find a work around to get this new profession running seamlessly within Relic.

Grandma's Rocking Chair = /sleep to keep HP/water and calories from decaying. The rocking chairs are a DLC item, so we cannot have those as a world drop (per FP policy).

Fish rods (modded) can be found at fishing village

Gloves of Plenty = level perk. Max level boosts gather to 3.25x (plus serums. We're a no decay / no upkeep server so there needs to be some sort of balance here)

Aegis of Eternity = you can craft these through our potion profession (type /professions in chat).

Divine Hood = level perk

Shield of Damnation = can craft these as potions. (/professions)

Thanks for the detailed response.

The broader idea behind my suggestions wasn't necessarily the specific items themselves, but rather expanding the amount of mid-tier content and giving players more reasons to get excited about random drops and grinding.

Even if some of the rewards overlap with existing perks or professions, having an alternate path to eventually earn or use certain items/perks can make the game feel more dynamic.

One of my favorite aspects of Relic is the chance of getting unexpected drops from certain NPCs or activities. That RNG element gives players a reason to keep farming beyond just raw resources. I think expanding that system even if it's with completely different items than the ones I listed would add a lot of variety and make PvE feel even more rewarding.

So I see my list more as examples of the type of content I'd love to see rather than specific requests. The main takeaway is simply more unique random-drop collectibles, restoration items, or niche utility rewards that complement existing systems without replacing professions or level perks.

I understand where you're coming from and agree with you. I wasn't sure if you knew about the items/perks I listed above. Thank you for the suggestions, I will be sure to add in some more unique drops/stuff to do. We're always making Relic better if you look back at our announcements: https://relicpve.com/forums/id/announcements/

Absolutely. I can tell you've put a lot of thought and effort into your server, and everything comes together into a really unique formula.

I'm normally a PvP oriented Rust player, but I'm also a MMO fan. The combination of progression, professions, random drops, rankings, and other systems really scratched a gameplaystyle itch, even without direct PvP.

Since there are still random activity competitions, leaderboards, and other features that create a sense of competition, I can enjoy that vicariously without direct PvP.   Although an instanced arena or something would be kinda cool.

Overall I think it's the unique mix of systems that brought me back to this server. I tried a few other modded servers, but Relic has been the most interesting one I've found.

You overall strike a good balance with progression.  The grind feels fair and not totally gamebreaking, and unlocking certain perks actually feels rewarding.

After my first serious wipe of playing and getting a feel for what's available late game/wipe.  I'm just sharing my personal opinions and feedback is all.  Overall I think you've done a good job with the systems you have this far.
