would let players skin their armor and have better than vanilla stats

That would definitely add more variety to gearing options and allow for more incremental upgrades rather than the current steps between vanilla gear to modded gear to legendary gear.

+1 Yeah, its hard to find skins to fit with modified armour that it would look amazing.
